AADHARAVU FOUNDATION
2022 - 2024
A MOU was signed between the aadharavu foundation for mentally compromised population, in Chennai and Department of public health dentistry. Oral health is generally a neglected portion in delivery of health care services generally and the same issue is critical when considering such special population.
Prevention and timely treatment of oral conditions are pivotal for a holistic health and as a part of community out reach and health promotional activity, the department and Aadharavu foundation has joined hands to work together for a noble cause.
SCARF FOUNDATION

As a part of Oral Health Promotional activities, Target populations needing special care are continuously being identified and brought in to the radar of providing Affordable quality, oral health care, by the department. One such society identified is SCARF in Chennai.
Schizophrenic Research Foundation (SCARF), a mental health center and nonprofit organization based at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, offering a multidisciplinary, comprehensive range of psychiatric care and rehabilitation services. SCARF India was founded in 1984 by a group of mental health professionals and philanthropists headed by Padma Bhushan Dr M Sarada Menon. SCARF has been a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center since 1996. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between SCARF & Public health Dentistry department, Saveetha Dental College for a period of 2 years from 2022 to 2024. Scope of MOU is to offer a quality, affordable oral health care to patients suffering from Schizophrenia, Alzhimers’s and Dementia, who are identified through SCARF Society.
As an action plan and a first step towards the collaboration, A treatment camp was planned for the in patients of SCARF foundation, in Thiruverkadu.Around 50 patients were screened and rendered basic oral health care.
rmd pain and palliative care trust

The Department of Public Health Dentistry & RMD Pain and palliative care trust has signed an MOU to benefit the oral cancer patients. The main scope of the MOU is to jointly organise oral cancer screening camps and out reach activities, in order to achieve early identification and active referral of oral cancer cases to the oncology department of SDC. The trust has also graciously accepted in bearing up a certain percentage of cost involved in treatment of oral cancer patients, that are referred through the trust.
BAI - BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA

BAI is a Nation wide body consisting of infrastructure development programmers, builders of real estate and industrialists, founded in 1941. During the seven decades of existence, the active members of BAI has increased from mere hundreds to several thousands. Apart from taking India's infrastructure to a global level, their social responsibility and activities are truly commendable. periodic general camps, blood donation camps and health awareness lectures are part of their social activities. An MOU has been drawn up and in action between the Department of Public Health Dentistry and BAI Association for the past 4 years. Regular dental screening and treatment camps has been proposed, which would benefit the daily waged construction labourers.

A Randomised Control Trial to test the effectiveness of an Oral Hygiene Curriculum developed by Hygiene Heroes, University of Berkeley, California has been planned with an allocated budget of rupees 12,50,000 ($18000) among primary school children. Department of Public Health Dentistry, Saveetha Dental College will be implementing and co ordinating the project among 200 schools in Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu, India with the allocated and afore mentioned budget.
