Public Health & Dental Public Health
Students would be trained in Understanding, analysing, Evaluating the magnitude of disease in question. Scrutinising the primary and secondary contributing factors for causation and also would be trained to integrate ecological and socio behavioural aspects in to disease progression and prognosis after treatment. At an undergraduate level students are encouraged to perform surveys, adopt a household to practically understand the value of epidemiology and its principles. At a post graduate level, students are further trained to formulate draft oral health policies for a target population and to plan and conduct oral health care programs.
Preventive & Promotive oral health care
At an individual level, students would master the skill of providing preventive and promotive care in particular along with catering basic oral health care services. the services range from basic counselling for oral health, nutritional advice, tobacco cessation service and awareness sessions to getting hands on training on newer techniques in preventive and minimal invasive dentistry. students are also encouraged to develop materials and test same at all levels of preventive clinical trials.
health care administration & capacity building
The speciality trains the students to critically analyse existing health care models and correlate it with the oral health needs assessed. The potential gaps identified are addressed in terms of proposal for changes in existing system. Training also involves capacity building for students. They are trained in diversified fields like administration, management, public speaking, patenting, medico legal aspects governing individual practice and community program planning.
