Transgender inequality is the unequal protection received by transgender people in work, school, and society in general. Transgender people regularly face transphobic harassment. Ultimately, one of the largest reasons that transgender people face inequality is due to a lack of public understanding and hence a CDE program was organized by the department of Public Health Dentistry and around 71 participants from Saveetha Dental College attended the program.
Lectures were given on the following topics, “Trans/form Health project” by Ms. Jaya, Gender Manager, Sahodaran organisation; Transgender’s Life and Care by Ms. Farzana, Fundraise Consultant, Sahodaran; Transgender’s Oral Hygiene and Expectation from Doctors or Medical students by Ms. Rakshitha, Field level officer, Sahodaran. Awareness about transgenders, their health care needs and their practical difficulties in accessing health care services were emphasised in the CDE program.
